Help! Software Advice? Character 3D Modeling!!!?

I need a freeware program that can do easy character creations. I can't draw and unless it has a very layman term operation manual it can't be very high tech. I want something similar to avatars and zwinky except more colors (customizable), more features like lots of different nose, eye, lips, body, etc. shapes and with the body if I could put in something like you do with My virtual model with the weight and height or measurements. I also want a better variety of hair styles and additions. It is okay if it has package additions as long as you mention them. I've still got a lot of free space on my computer. I've already been to some freeware sites and Blender 3D, TrueSpace 3.2 and Anim8or 0.9 where some suggestions but I need more information. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance! I don't need a fully animated picture all I need is the same character image you would get if you could draw a close up face and a full body picture. No particular position just simple front view of different characters with a variety of hair colors/types, facial features, skin tones and body shapes.

1. Having worked in the gaming industry for so many years, your question proposes a paradox: you can't have 'easy' and do what you want to do. Blender3D and Gimp are all that can be offered to suit your request but you'll have to either learn them on your own with the vast online documentation, buy some books to help, or take classes. There's no easy road such as you've asked for.
