Which 3d modeling program should i get?

I am a student, and am looking into the field of 3d design and animation. I have worked with blender for some time now, and was looking to upgrade. What would you suggest that isn't too expensive?

1. I'm far from an expert, but back in the day "Poser" was the software to get for 3D modelling. Good luck.
2. Autodesk maya is a similar program to blender.
