www.blender.org?

Does anyone know about the 3D modeling site called http://www.blender.org/ Do you know if its trust worthy and easy to use? I'm just getting interested in 3D character design and I hoping this could get me into the feild of #D animation.

1. Yeah, a professional animator recomended it to me. I found it confusing as hell, though.
2. Blender is a well known free 3D modeler. So you can definitely trust it. It's got a bit of publicity behind it with their movie project. Easy to use? That depends. Blender has a way of doing things. That is, by keyboard shortcuts. Now, most people come in trying to figure out what buttons to click, and that's the wrong mindset. Once you start getting to know all the keyboard shortcuts, you become extremely efficient with Blender (and it will seem easy to you), while you'll find other programs a bit agonizingly difficult. So I guess it's a question of whether you mind having a hard initial learning curve or not. If you can't get past the initial learning curve, you're doomed. If you do go past it, by a bit of practice and <<time>> (can't stress that enough), you'll find Blender to be easy to use and very powerful.
3. yap,it looks cool.but am useing another software,its maya8.5 and its doing a really great job on the 3d designeing track,and maya is really a good prog just 2 start ur 3d carrer like me...
